Connections don't solve everything? Or why Shpak's new girlfriend failed to resolve the issue with border guards
Not long ago, the famous Russian blogger Alexander Shpak attempted to visit Ukraine. He flew to meet his new acquaintance, Yana Borisenko, whom he had met in Turkey.

The couple eagerly awaited their meeting and made plans for how they would have a good time in Kyiv. However, something went wrong.

Firstly, Alexander did not have the original of the notarised invitation from Yana. He only had a copy. The original document remained with the girl. Therefore, the border service doubted the purpose of his trip to Kyiv.

Moreover, the blogger did not have a negative PCR test. Instead, he tried to present a Sputnik vaccination certificate. However, the vaccine is not recognised in Ukraine, nor in most of the world. This was undoubtedly also a reason for the refusal of entry.

Why the problem could not be solved

But the blogger did not give up. He was convinced that Yana and her lawyer could resolve the issue with the border guards. Especially since Yana's husband is a politician. And she herself had recently run for the Verkhovna Rada.

Perhaps the girl would have managed to "sort things out" with the Ukrainian border service. However, Shpak's chattiness ruined everything. While Yana was negotiating with the border guards with her lawyer, the blogger was broadcasting on his Instagram about the injustice and assuring viewers that his influential friend could help him. Moreover, he threatened the Ukrainian border guards with a court case.

Naturally, he managed to draw attention to himself. However, the publicity brought about a result quite different from what Shpak had expected. He was denied entry.

In this case, he was even lucky. Because his broadcasts attracted the attention of Serhiy Sternenko. He and his supporters would surely have ruined Alexander's "holiday". And this trip would have been remembered for something entirely different from what was expected. So, let him say "Thank you"!

Yana, on the other hand, made herself, if not enemies, then at least ill-willers out of thin air. And her attempts to "sort things out" became another reason to talk about corruption in Ukraine.
