Celine Dion's brother dies

Just yesterday we reported on the deteriorating condition of Celine Dion's 59-year-old brother Daniel, who had been battling cancer for several years. Unfortunately, medicine proved powerless in this case as well. The tumour affected his throat and tongue and had spread to his brain. Doctors had given him no chance of recovery.

On the evening of 16 January, Daniel Dion died in a Montreal clinic. He was surrounded by family members in his final moments.

For Celine Dion, this is the second loss in a week. Just a few days earlier, her husband René died of cancer.

The singer was very close to her brother.
