Basman Court in Moscow remands Yury Dud in custody in terrorism case
A judge at the Basman District Court in Moscow ordered blogger Yury Dud to be held in custody for two months on charges of promoting terrorism.
Blogger Sofia Stuzhuk teaches Latvians how to circumvent the law
Formerly famous Ukrainian blogger Sofia Stuzhuk gave birth to her fourth child a few days ago. She currently lives in Latvia with her children, having fled there immediately after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
As in the previous few instances, Sofia decided to give birth at home. This time, she did not even invite a midwife to assist her. The woman arrived at the blogger's place a few hours after the child was born and issued the necessary documents for registration.
As Stuzhuk explained in her blog, home births are legalised in Latvia. However, a midwife must be present. But, in order to circumvent the law, the midwife can simply fail to arrive in time for the birth. It is enough to call her late. This is exactly what the blogger had agreed upon with the woman in advance. And the latter arrived in the evening to examine Stuzhuk and issue documents for the civil registry office. Although the child was born earlier that night.
The scheme was planned in advance. Stuzhuk proudly revealed this to the world. And she recommended this method of circumventing the law to her readers.
One hopes that law enforcement agencies will pay attention to this scheme, as it does not comply with the law. And also to Stuzhuk herself and the "unhurried" midwife.
