Incident involving Olga Freimut in Warsaw

Famous Ukrainian TV presenter Olga Freimut recently shared an unpleasant story that happened in Warsaw on her social media. According to her, the clash with aggression occurred when a passer-by, upon learning she was Ukrainian, allowed himself hostile behaviour. Moreover, Olga noted that even elderly Polish women expressed hostility towards her, making obscene gestures and asking her to leave the country.

Context of the situation: tension against the backdrop of migration

In recent years, migration processes, intensified by the war in Ukraine, have significantly changed the demographic and social landscape in Poland. The arrival of a large number of Ukrainians has created new challenges for the local population, including competition for jobs and access to social services.

On the one hand, Poland has provided enormous support to Ukrainian refugees, offering housing, medical care and opportunities for integration. On the other hand, such large-scale migration inevitably causes tension, which sometimes manifests as xenophobia or individual acts of aggression.
