Hondrolon is produced by the domestic pharmaceutical company Microgen. The composition includes chondroitin sulphate, which has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. The dosage form of the medication is a white lyophilisate, which is dissolved to obtain a liquid, subsequently administered intramuscularly. Each ampoule contains 100 mg of chondroitin sulphate.

The drug Hondrolon belongs to medications that normalise metabolic processes in joint cartilage structures. It activates tissue regeneration processes in joints and cartilage. Chondroitin sulphate, together with collagen, forms the basis of cartilage structures in the joint. It has a direct chondroprotective effect, inhibiting cartilage destruction processes. It stimulates the production and synthesis of chondrocytes and improves metabolic processes in cartilage. It participates in the formation of bone and cartilage tissue.

After injection, it is actively absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed via systemic circulation. It reduces the severity of the inflammatory process and lowers pain syndrome accompanying the development of joint diseases. It inhibits the penetration of substances into the joint cavity that provoke inflammatory reactions. It promotes the restoration of cartilage structures and prevents the destruction of connective tissue. It activates the synthesis and production of the fluid located in the joint cavity, preventing joint heads from rubbing against each other and deteriorating.

After completing a course of Hondrolon, the mobility of joint heads improves, the intensity of pain and inflammation decreases, swelling and hyperaemia subside, and morning stiffness disappears. After injection, the active substance accumulates within 60 minutes. After 24 hours, the active components are completely eliminated from the blood.
