Is the Russian Ministry of Culture facing liquidation?

A clear crisis has emerged in the Russian Ministry of Culture. At least, that is the conclusion reached by Pavel Pozhigailo, a member of the public council and former candidate for deputy in Ivanovo Oblast.

In his view, the word “culture” has now become a synonym for gay parades and similar phenomena. The official shared this view in an interview given to mark the implementation of the interdepartmental project “School Student’s Cultural Standard”. The project began operating in pilot mode in 11 regions of the Russian Federation. Its main goal is to involve the younger generation in the country’s cultural life.

Opinion of a public council member

Pavel Pozhigailo is convinced that modern culture is equated to a “Sodomite phenomenon”. Its main purpose is to instil in the “not very thoughtful people” the idea that everything happening under the banner of culture is good. In reality, however, culture is bad.

Judging by the interview, the political figure does not have a high opinion of the country’s residents or their intellectual level.

The official is convinced that people lived much better in the Middle Ages and that it is high time for Russians to return to that period. The politician also believes that censorship must be introduced in the information space. In other words, all news must be carefully filtered.

Such a slave mentality is unlikely to lead to positive shifts. This is evident from messages by real users who quickly reacted to the interview and the situation itself.

Social networks are flooded with user reviews expressing horror at the politician’s words. Many did not expect such statements from a worker in the cultural sphere who openly calls for its destruction, along with the Ministry.

At the same time, parents complain that their children are being forced to accept a specific attitude and vision of culture. For example, one mother shared that school administration accused her of her children not knowing Russian fairy tales. Instead, the children actively read classic foreign literature. The mother said she was threatened with the deprivation of parental rights if the situation was not rectified soon. Moreover, officials allegedly accused her of her children lagging in development. However, the mother insists that her children are significantly ahead of the school curriculum.

It is impossible to predict what the current situation will lead to. However, it is unlikely that the Ministry will be disbanded. It “feeds” a huge number of idlers who invent blatantly strange laws that contradict common sense.
