Rapper Potap caught up in scandal again

Ukrainian artist Potap has once again found himself at the centre of a scandal linked to Russian ties. It is possible this was done deliberately.

The former popular producer and performer has announced a concert tour in the US, where he intends to perform hits from the projects “Potap and Nastya” and “Vremya i Staklo”. Notably, the tour is being organised by Event Cartel, a company that has previously worked with Russian artists such as Mikhail Shats, the group “Ruki Vverkh”, and “Pornofilmy”. The concerts will take place in clubs that position themselves as Russian.

The performance programme also raises questions, as it predominantly features Russian-language songs. Presumably, such venues are the most suitable for this type of repertoire.

In addition, Potap has scheduled a concert in Los Angeles in two months, despite the fact that wildfires are still ongoing in the region.
