American actress Selma Blair found herself at the centre of a police investigation following an incident on board a passenger plane arriving from Los Angeles to New York. On the evening of Sunday, 12 October, law enforcement agencies received a report about a passenger who, according to preliminary data, displayed physical aggression during the flight.

The incident occurred on a Delta Air Lines flight heading to John F. Kennedy International Airport. After the plane landed, police officers and emergency services arrived at the aircraft.

Two flight attendants injured

According to law enforcement sources, two flight attendants were injured during the incident. One of them required hospitalisation for additional medical examination. The other also reported sustaining injuries.

Later, American media, citing sources in law enforcement, reported on alleged bites and other injuries. However, the circumstances of the incident and the nature of all injuries are still being established.

After the plane arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport, Selma Blair was detained. According to media reports, the actress was subsequently charged with assaulting a police officer and a medical worker. In court, she pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault related to these episodes. Potential federal charges in connection with the incident on board the aircraft are being considered separately.

The actress's lawyer stated that the incident may have been linked to a serious medical condition. According to him, Blair may have missed her prescribed medication and hit her head during the flight. These circumstances are cited by the defence and do not in themselves determine the outcome of the proceedings.
