Dmitry Khvorostovsky has died

Following a prolonged illness, renowned opera singer Dmitry Khvorostovsky died today, 22 November, at 3:36 London time. The artist passed away in his 56th year from a malignant brain tumour.

The sad news was shared by Russian performer Dmitry Malikov.

It became known in 2015 that Khvorostovsky had a brain tumour. The artist himself disclosed the dangerous illness. The singer fought the disease for a long time and even showed signs of improvement at one point. However, the tumour proved aggressive and soon began to grow rapidly.

As a result, the performer and his family decided to discontinue the heavy chemotherapy. Dmitry Khvorostovsky spent his final days surrounded by loved ones.
